PPWHA TRAIL COMMITTEE NEWS

The trail committee is beginning new efforts to "get back on the trail" with respect to activities involving trail riding.  The committee members include Jeannie McGuire, Elizabeth Manchester, Marion and Burl Latshaw.  All the committee members are listed in the PPWHA mailing list as well as the "About Us" pg of our website. We are open to suggestions from the membership.  Call or email Burl at ryehillfarms@verizon.net, 610-718-8546.

As we plan activities for 2010 we have received several suggestions that include expanding the scope of trail riding to include parade participation, flag ceremony instruction, drill and formation riding, and camping techniques.  The committee is researching these ideas and is planning to promote a workshop that will deal with some aspect of trail riding, yet to be determined.

A communication has been sent to the Trail Committee members to select a date and venue for our first committee meeting.  We are gearing up for the new trail riding season and invite all PPWHA members to participate in the rides or by brainstorming ideas.  Burl will be calling respresentaives from each Cluster to facilitate communication and idea building.  In the meantime let's just hope the snow melts soon.. Happy trails to everyone.  Burl.

Spring has sprung and so have the possibilities for some great trail rides. I will attempt to keep you abreast of what is happening on the local, as well as, the national scene as far as trail riding opportunities are concerned. Let’s start with the national scene.

Go to the website of the American Competitive Trail Horse Association for information on many trail riding venues across the nation. You have to pay to join the organization, but can glean information from the website with no charge. They are sponsoring a nationwide trail riding day on June 13, 2010 in many locations across the country. The Ride benefits Rescue Horses in need. The Pennsylvania location is in Bernville,PA, Region 5    -Burl
